its been quite a journey so far....i have tried all manner of spaces and always end up back in our dining room, much to the annoyance of my partner and daughter! So I am on the hunt for the perfect space to create in.... I am wondering as I type this if anyone else has this problem at home? I get that as a working mum painting on the dining room table is both practical and easy but having to tidy up to make space for people... well thats just so bloody annoying! stopping and starting projects is a nightmare, which means I havent had the urge to paint for two weeks now! aaaahhhhh.
Feeling really frustrated with deadlines looming I took myself off to the library today.....good move megan. I found a lovely little book showcasing artists studios...yay just what I need, how do other artists set themselves up at home? It was so interesting...and very inspiring, great photos of some very talented artists and not to mention amazing studios. The title for anyone interested is 'Book of Inspiration, where women create. Packham, J & Doh, J. 2010.
Well it got me thinking about mine. Even though I have work up in the dining room, kitchen, toilet....no just kidding. I did in a moment of clarity, set up my art table in our spare room. I must admit this was after having to plan it down to each step! I am 30 weeks pregnant ok, I dont have the brain or the energy damn it.
So I am now finding myself moving between two rooms AND a very dusty studio in our backyard, you can imagine how frustrating it is when you realise you have lost something, where did I leave it? which room?? and the constant swapping and changing has meant lots of unfinished projects. To date I have, 1 half finished corset, 1 pile of fabric ready for a cot quilt, 1 doll missing her friends I was so eager to make before I thought about shopping at spotlight and found myself on the couch eating a yoyo instead! the list goes on. I will not let this stop me from my quest to find the right space to create in though, because lets face it its SOOOOO important to the artist AND i have an exhibition booked.Would love to know if anyone is having or had this experience, how you remedied it or if you just got on with it. I have this sneaky suspicion all i need to do is start making something and the rest will sort itself out! bye xx

I keep forgetting to post on my blog!!
but nevermind, it hasnt been THAT exciting on the art front although I have just ordered eight new prints which I am very excited about. They will be making their way to Zohar Design store at the Mount, which is a beautiful East coast township here in New Zealand. I'm hoping I will have created abit of business for 'catching butterflies' as my lovely sister in law has put up lots of my artwork in her new cafe (image is of the signs I made for their toilets!!)....go Carly! Its called Nourish and is in Te Puna, so if anyone's over that way check it out, great coffee and great food AND a great kids area by the sounds. So as the saying goes "to make money you've gotta spend money"...even though my printing account is not back to zero, I've got it down enough that I can warrant a new print order (yes I am thinking positive) and fingers crossed they sell!!
